The charts reveal an interesting story unfolding as we continue our heatsink testing into the summer season. It appears that a new series of coolers is entering the top tier class of performance heatsinks. The OCZ Vendetta 2 plants itself directly in competition with our modded Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, which performed insanely well last year in our Heatsink Showdown event, with no modifications at all done to it at the time.
Unfortunately, the newly acquired TRUE that I received two weeks ago for testing with an unmodified version, is failing miserably in all of our heatsink tests so far, showing significant problems relating to TR’s production and manufacturing. What does this mean for the OCZ Vendetta 2? Well this means we now have a cooler that matches TRUE quality performance, for significantly less money. Making it the best value around for extreme air cooling performance.
A new contender has emerged in the top tier cooling class, the OCZ Vendetta 2. It’s performance and price point exceed that of even Thermalright at the time being. Although it may not have the flair of other more expensive heatsinks, its performance is that of the best coolers available. The only real thing i can say about the Vendetta 2 is that I would like to see a more stylish version, other then that minor aspect, it really cannot be beat. It manged to hold its own even in the extreme torture test that the retail, unmodified version of the Ultra 120 Extreme bombed big time, that says alot in and by itself.
