Case modding had its beginning in the 1990’s when the home desktop PC first became popular. Young overclockers alike across the globe searched for methods to add a style and unique feel that made their PC their own. At the time, aftermarket modding parts for computers wasn’t even thought of, and any case mods users would make would be done with that of the drill and saw variety. Of course years later we now find ourselves with a slew of company’s producing fabulous add-ons for customizing your computer for your own unique touch, and I am pleased to announce one of the newest company’s, Lamptron, has some of the most exciting selections for case modding supplys from a new company to date.
Today we will have a chance to look at Lamptrons signature case handles, the CH-2 series. These all aluminum handles have a very durable construction and come in both silver and anodized black. Their lightweight design and sturdy construction makes them perfect for any application, and today we will get to see just how well the package Lamptron has put together is for beginner and expert modders alike.
Whats contained inside this small box is all the hardware you need to mount your new case handles. You get 2 securely packed case handles, mounting hardware with lock washers and the mounting template. In case you need a replacement template, we have provided one for you to download via the link below, just right click and save as.

Further inspection of our case handles shows the remarkable quality, there are no chips or blemishes of any kind, and they are extremely durable. However the smooth finish does attract fingerprints very quickly as you can see in some of the photos, just the mere handling of the handles out of the box proved to show some fingerprints.
The case handles can install in two distinct mounting positions, for this test i have decided to mount the handles as a single unit in the center of the mid-tower case top. Which creates one large and durable handle. Preparation for the install is simple, take your measurements and align the template in the proper position and tape it down using painters tape, or another kind of tape that wont damage the case finish. Unfortunately, there were no instructions included in the package which give you the size of the drill bit you will need, or the tools you will require. However i found that you will require a strong power drill for drilling through sheet metal, an allen key, and either a wrench or socket for tightening the nut to the bolt securely.
Once your finished drilling its as simple as putting the nuts and bolts together. Unfortunately after we were finished the install, I quickly found that the handles were not very secure in that particular mounting style and often hit each other due to the fact that there are no screws securing the handles on the top.
Comments/Suggestions
This is an excellent package Lamptron has put together for adding style to your case, however i personally still am fond of the original case handle styles myself. The only recommendations i have for Lamptron regarding their case handle kit is that i would like to see more detailed instructions, and the inclusion of an allen key for tightening the bolts. When its all said and done, this is an excellent case modding product.
